Using a Term in a Linguistics Paper

Linguists do not know every language on in the world there's no linguist that does and sometimes they do things that they're simply mistaken about an example I recently went to a presentation of somebody's paper that he was covering Afro-Belivian Spanish. It was a theory paper it was disproving a particular theory although I did pull something out of it that was useful for for a conlang of mine that I can talk about later.
