The Nature of the State

The state as we know it today is a territorial monopolist of coercion. The state is also the ultimate decision maker of conflict on his territory. So this is actually a rather uncomfortable truth for me. I suppose to realize that the state is not something that is good, and it is kept going by using coercion and violence. A group of people imposed their will by setting up basically a state.
