The Impacts of Vipe Mining on the Sea Floor
We don't know the immediate impacts of things like pressure from vipe mining vehicles on the sea floor. The habitat that's destroyed when you're taking the surface off a seaman or knocking down a hydrothermal vent chimney. What are they actually doing in terms of the kinds of services we talked about earlier, the sort of carbon sequestration in the nutrient cycling? You know, how important are these species to those process that we value as humans? So, i mean, the list of what we don't know with respect to the impact of mining is enormous.
