The Church's Consequences With the Annual Reports
In the 2021 annual report, the church only claimed 6.8 million hours of service through all of its church welfare and humanitarian efforts. "It looks like they're willing to inflate those numbers in order to make it look like they're doing a lot more than they really are," says John Defterios. In 2013, just two years later, it claimed that there were over 10.5 million people helped in its annual report. It's very squishy when you start to use these weird metrics of service that have no clear dollar impact, he adds.
