How to Evaluate Patients for CAR T Cell Therapy

As more patients are being considered for CAR T cell therapy there are more questions arising about how to assess the candidacy of patients and also care for these patients. Patients with comorbidities including cardiac and pulmonary disease appear to have similar outcomes to that that was seen when on clinical trials. Early treatment of cytokine release syndrome is key in these high-risk patients. Most cardiopulmonary adverse events appear to be reversible with lower rates of long-term complications.
