Lion's Mane: The Mushroom Superstar

Lion's Mane is a fascinating mushroom and one for which there are some really interesting claims that it may have some very useful medicinal properties. Professor Nick Mone: The evidence is that extracts, so purified molecules, chemicals from the Lion's Mane mushroom, increase the growth of nerve cells in culture. Other experiments on rats and mice show that when they're fed powdered mushrooms, that we find that the levels of a compound called nerve growth factor increase in these mice. That's the exciting stuff and that's really as far as the science goes.
