Seth Godin: How do babies think about relationships around them? Do they know when others are close to each other? And how do they tell if others are in a close relationship? So far, it looks like these bodily fluids i mention in my intro may be part of the answer. Why is a baby's ability to evaluate closeness important? Infants are born into this really complex social world. If infants can do it, it probably means that it might even be there from the time that we're born.
