Ashurnasapal's Greatest City, Nimrud
Ashurnasapal transformed Kavu into one of the greatest cities in the world through coercion. He built a massive palace complex and temples contained within a wall circuit stretching 5 miles, 7.5 kilometers. By 800 BC, it had 75,000 permanent residents, and it was among the largest city in the world. The Assyrians fought in the east and what's now Iran and in the south in Babylonia.
