Semon de bauvoir is an existentialist. She doesn't believe in some sort of preordained set of personality traits or essential properties that make you you. Femininity is a social construct, not something imbued into women at conception. Sting reminds me of how people often talk about human nature writ they'll say things like, look at our bloody past.
