The ottawa heart failure scoring tool is very interesting. It's basically a scoring system that was developed to predict serious adverse events. While it was supposed to be a risk scale, it ended up becoming a disposition tool. So we assume that admission decreases the risk of serious adverse events, which we know isn't necessarily true. And so then in an attempt to decrease these heart failure admissions based on the risk ofserious adverse events may be a slightly flawed thought process.
