Using the Big Bang Mechanism to Create a Universe
After the Big Bang there exists a simple law of physics that says if the amount of energy in a volume of space is constant but then that space expands as happened after the Big Bang then the temperature will fall. The universe has continued to expand at an astonishing rate and by the time we have lots of helium in the early universe formed by this very process the universe has expanded so much it's no longer able to produce heavier elements like tritium or deuterium.
