The Moon and the Tide

If history had been different, would we have had a bunch of moons? What would it be like to live in that scenario? Could we sail as well if the tides were crazy and complicated from having like 15 different little moons? Interesting. It sounds like a fun science fiction story. So many spin-offs. Different moons for different breeds. Two moons up in the sky, then you're a hybrid, right?
