The Deaths of Disdain Catastrophe
Is the deaths of despair catastrophe in the United States something that is uniquely American or is it a harbinger for other countries in the West? We don't know the answer to that but it's a really big question. Health offense both good and bad have often begun in America and then spread to other countries. And you see it in where I grew up in Scotland there's that enormous drug epidemic. There have been alcohol problems in Britain more generally. You see some Canada though that could be just because we're right next to them. So you tend to see some sorts of deaths of despair in almost all rich English speaking countries. But then you don't have the crazy healthcare system we have.
