Mozart writes more woodwind solos than he usually does in his symphonic works. Prague was known the world over for the quality of its woodwind players. Mozart then adds to this an obo solo, but soon we're right back to more ambitious harmonies. We get a clear sense of D major that the rhythm is again slightly more complicated than usual. And this allows the music to dance forward in the first open expression of joy in the piece.
