The Role of Women Hunting in Human Diversity
There are some nice databases where anthropologists have pooled together all of the ethnographic records so any sort of writings about diverse societies that have basically been compiled. So they went to one of those and found 361 societies that they considered foragers, and from those 361 they found 63 where there was explicit discussion about hunting practices. And how did these people hunt in enough detail that we understand a bit about their hunting behaviors. That's what we're working with 63 societies that were observed sometime between the late 1800s and the 2010s.
