Introduction
A three-hour Hollywood film is about the physicist J. Robert Oppenheimer and the race to build an atomic bomb before Nazi Germany. He was the director of the scientists at New Mexico's top secret Los Alamos Laboratory for two and a half years leading up to the first successful test of a nuclear weapon in 1945. After the war, he famously spoke against the widespread use of nuclear weapons but later lost his security clearances during McCarthyism.
