The Devastation of a Hokaido

The last time Ray sees the earthquake is when he's in bed with shima. And it's interesting, because he goes back to thinking about the earthquake two more es in the story. It takes his interactions with these other folks in this new place for him to have that realization. He may have felt that the loss of this piece was the end of his story, if not at least the end of an arc. Yet it's when he comes to have a sharper sense of what's been wrought, that he finds himself.
