What Does Someone Like Me Know About Suffering?

No matter what precautions you take to avoid the lurking phantom of suffering, suffering will find you. Christians know this on some level anyway, but we struggle to make sense of it. As far as we can tell, we're being asked to believe two things many of us cannot bear to reconcile. Life itself we know is fragile, forever subject to forces beyond our control. On a long enough time line, the survival rate for everyone drops to zero, comfortable, or otherwise you and everyone you love will die.
