New York's Build Public Renewable Act Enables NYPA to Build Renewable Energy

In 2019 New York State passed its law, very ambitious to say New York is going to reduce economy-wide greenhouse gas emissions 40% by 2030 and no less than 85% by 2050 from our 1990 levels. It also requires 70% renewable electricity and 100% zero emissions grid by 2040. So the Build Public Renewables Act allows our New York Power Authority, this public power authority, to build renewable energy,. own it, and then use it to allow provide discounted utility rates to low- and moderate-income residents. Also, including this provision, was this cool mandate to shut down fossil fuel plants by 2030.
