Aros to Bittersweet by Anne Carson
I drew a lot on Anne Carson's scholarship of and depictions of Aros as sweet bitter in Greek sources that love can be wonderful and lovely, but it's also, it can be awful as well. He has this very like contrary, raw, jaded character. There's a lot of tension there. No one can get along with Aros. That's kind of her whole deal. But yeah, that's really fascinating to play with that primordial aspect of him because it's so unique. And then also I do social work now and I work primarily with older adults. It was something that really influenced the story as well.
