My dad came here reluctantly, but he didn't have a choice. He has spoken to me about his experiences in 1960s, early 70s London. And it's fair to say our country has made huge progress. That year that he fled Kenya and came here was the year of Enoch Powell's River of Blood speech. There were warnings of people being betrayed. Of course Britain was different. But do you understand why some people hear the echoes in the language used and shiver?
