In pre capitalist class societies, you don't have enough to go round to support a class of non producers. As capitalism comes up, then you have yo, you need this different kind of labor force that is a mobile. And so knowledge circulates and also a sort of direct relationship between workers and the means of production. There's no way we can get rid of human beings in human labor without decoupling them from political economic systems. We got to talk about very specific historical moments where people were able to do what they wanted with their lives because it was not required by society.
