Ar-Hazi: Avicenna's most contentious ideas about God concerned divine thought. He tried to show that God is a perfect intellect whose unchanging thought is directed primarily at itself as in Aristotle, he says. Ar-Hazi challenges each step of Avicenna’s attempt to show that the necessary existent is to be identified with God.
