Until surprisingly recently, the limvital idea that there was some essence of life that was qualitatively different than physics. There's a whole level of emergent complexity in life that we didn't see in the physical world prior to life. And so i'm reasonably confident that once we have enough knowledge on the functional side, i will say, what the hell? Why did we think this problem was hard? The so called hard problem?
