The extent of rat bites, rat anfestation in african american communities was profound. And so i think that what you began with the comment from roy wilkins, i think, is an important one. Because we often think of housing as just a part of this constellation of inequality and black life, but for black residence, it was profound. So if ever there was a badge of inequality, of second class citizenship, of utter and total marginalization and oppression, it is living in infested housing.
