In his opinion, gone are the days where it's shocking to see a purple belt catch a black belt in a role. "The level of jujitsu has just right risen so much and the talent is just so," he says. He adds that with more access and people doing kind of more unusual entries into positions and submissions, it is certainly even more possible for the black belt to get caught unawares.
