Between two thousand seven and two thousand nine, the incomes of people making a million dollars or more fell by nearly 50%. Just over one fifth of the people on the 19 82 forbes list of the wealthiest americans inherited their wealth. Even among the truly rich, there was turnover. When forbes's magazine ran its first list of the 400 richest Americans in ninet 82, that list included 14 rockefellers, 28 duponts and 11 hunts. 20 years later, the list included three rockefallers, one hunt and no duponts.
