In On Ends, Cicero says we are indebted to the Epicureans for philosophy but there are things that they may do which we should not. It's a more interesting kind of critique than one might think just a blustering Roman who thinks Romans are right. And I think sort of as it were the upshot of all this is that there's actually a serious ethical point about whether ethical theories should be universal.
