In the Book of Jeremiah, there is a sense of overconfidence that God will protect us. The earth will receive its paratociacal glory in Joel when he comes again and everyone acknowledges that. In chapter two it shifts to brethren, Ami, you are my people. So where you were not my people, you are now going to be called my people. This really does have sort of an eschatological feel to it."
