Cultural Hegeminy - What Is It?

Cultural hegeminy isn't always accomplished by an organized group of people that are actively trying to control things. People can be a part of perpetuating that status quo, just ly by acting out of their own self interest. See, because their self interest is always considered in relation to how the current system can help them, they unintentionally end up supporting things staying the same.
