i think this is what's so interesting about pod casting that i the tunes directory effectively solved the centralization problem. Apple embraced it because they wanted to sell more ipods. They only took centralization half way. So all they did was create that centralized experience, ecause all they cared about was a superior user experience such that people would buy more ipODs. The pug casteco system could evolve into an independent podcast player like spottify or perhaps apple. It wouldn't have been possible if google had one search and became monotized. But it's great for adateurs who just want to be able to find their favorite podcasts on any given day without having to go out
