Academic Freedom Is a Different Thing Than Free Speech
I think restrictions on some free expression, at the margins, you can make better cases for them than our culture would allow. I was always been very sympathetic to the Irving Crystal argument that freedom of speech is different than freedom of expression. The university as an institution predates the concept of free speech by centuries. And it seems to me that the academic freedom is very different from free speech. So there's a lot to unpack there and we can circle back to some of them.
