The Mammoth Step
Beryngia, which is now underneath the bering strait that separates siberia and alaska, was actually a pretty nice place to live 20 or 30 thousand years ago. The bio mass of the mam te, the total volume of living material, was incredibly high relative to what we'd expect from those climatic conditions. There were plants to forage and collect and big game to hunt, like those reindeer. And homo sapiens learned to live on and exploit this land all around the world.
