Spinal Injuries Can Be Repaired but Nerves Can't Be Replaced

A new study has revealed that there are nerve cells in the spine that can spring back to life through electrical stimulation. They tested something called epidural electrical stimulation on nine mice with damaged spines who were unable to walk. Almost immediately, the mice were able to walk again while the stimulation was happening. Even more miraculously, some of the mice saw permanent improvement of their lost motor functions.
