The Importance of Regulation in the Industrial Revolution
Silicon Valley's innovation engine is inseparable from risk taking, some amount of individualism. I don't think the United States wants to abandon that innovative energy. But also Silicon Valley brings a very distorted perspective to what we want the technologies to do and ignores a lot of the damages they can cause. The U.S. government has completely abrogated its obligation to create a regulatory institutional framework for artificial intelligence.
