The Tulep Period and the Westernization of the Empire
Sultan Ahmad III of the Ottoman Empire was deposed in 1736. His reign brought about a backlash among traditional scribes and calligraphers who were influential in Constantinople. The tulip festival, he would throw open the gardens for a massive tulip festival every spring. It spurred on a sort of fashion for Turkeri or Turkish things in France and Western Europe.
