Blackrock now manages nine and a half trillion dollars. The idea was that if you can do this really well, then in some form, it produces better outcomes for society. Most of the capital that people invest even at a firm like blackrock is not black rock's money,. It's not larry's money, it's not inol my money. People who invest that capital have legal obligations to focus on return measured in dollar value, not social values. They're very good at that, but they don't have a lot of leeway. In reality, what i saw, and i think is rampant across the economy, is that it's very, very profitable to be irresponsible.
