The Immediacy of Vignettes and Curated Ethnography
The whole point of a vignette or the arrangement is to create the illusion of immediacy. We have already extracted something from experience, converted it into a paper model and brought it into the social sciences mediated through the Anglo centric register of academic English. And ethically, this sort of compels us as an, as ethnographer is to say, like, look, the writing of this and the contextualizing of this and who I'm speaking to needs to be recognized. we need to break that fourth wall.
