The industrial revolution would never have happened had it not been for this tremendous subsidy from the peasantry, cheap food and cheap labor. The poor feed the poor on this planet. We have as many peasants on the planet to day as we did atthe turn of the industrial revolution. On a quarter of the world's agricultural land, these farmers produce nearly three quarters,. somewhere between two thirds and three quarters of the world’s food.
