The Man in the Upstairs Window
The banging started on 5th July 2004. At first I assumed the man upstairs was just nailing something into the wall, but after ten minutes it still hadn't stopped. The banging started to move downwards, until it seemed he was knocking things right into the floor. After two weeks of him hammering for an hour at a time and then moving down onto the second floor before stopping altogether,. I decided all that was important to me was that he was quiet, which he was, at least for the first couple of years. It didn't end to my home, although I did take the lighting scented candles just in case, the habit I still keep up today. Even those stairs do
