Is the Federal Government Taking Over Drug Development?
Stephanie Coontz: Public and private life sciences are critical to one another. She says it takes at least 11 to 15 years of activity at r nd in development cost that can exceed two billion dollars on average for new drugs. The federal government now funds the national institutes of health at about forty two billion dollars a year, she says.
