The Secret Life of Georgi Markov
In the 1970s, Bulgaria was part of the Eastern Bloc. Opposition or dissent to the communist state was pretty risky business. So there was this Bulgarian writer named Georgi Markov. He wrote about and spoke about these criticisms that he had of the Bulgarian government. His former friend Todar Zhikov decided that Markov should be silenced because he was insulting the citizens of Bulgaria.
