The Democratic proposals are, in our view, a good start. I think that if police engage in something like petty theft, right, it makes sense that that should be more severely punished than someone who was not leveraging a position of power to do it. It's worth noting that qualified immunity as we know it now was invented in a case about a whistleblower being punished by the Nixon administration. There's definitely at least hints at political, you know, retributive firings where qualified immunity might come into play in a few years.
