Do You Ever Have a Great Idea for a Story?

Do you like think of the ending first and then just figure it out from there? I kind of already know where I want a major arc to end. And so it's trying to figure out now what would lead to that point. There have been some ideas that have come to me, but they're not something you can jump the gun on either. Some writing buddies in Sanderson class really bemoaned having to kill their darlings.
