The Beauty of the Sacred Versus the Beauty of Sexual Desire
In the symposium, Plato talks about how beauty can be base and undermine those things. What love actually does or what appreciation of erotic beauty, erotic interest does is sublimation channels it into the higher thing that Plato ends up approving of in the symposium. It's just all this story about how there's erotic desire with him and else by it is,. but then the way that that is supposed to transform is into a loving teacher student relationship where you're both oriented toward the good.
