The History of the Mount Prospect Cemetery

Denver's Mount Prospect Cemetery was a burial ground for the many dead of the city, reaching around 5,000 graves in total. It quickly became haunted by the outlaws looking to take advantage of folks who passed through it. Many of the city's poor and unhoused began to set up camp there too,. And this was a problem that the neighbors who lived around the cemetery wanted to fix. So they used their wealth and power to have Congress change the restrictions on the land. They decided that they would use the space as a park instead, something the rich folks could enjoy from their windows.
