The Genetic Psychologists' Critique of Symbols

A sign is something that somebody intentionally does, like pointing at the sky as if to say, there is rain there. Whereas a symptom is in voluntary. The fact that you have a disease, it might show right there on your face, but that's not a sign. That's merely a symptom. And so then the sign is one degree more complex and intentional than that. So where signs kind of mean the thing, imminent presence of the thing, for instance, symbols mean their conceptions. It's a really interesting critique of what sounds more like, more like a behaviorist approach to this.
