The Different Sounds of Plants

Plants emit sounds because other species like insects can hear those sounds and there may be some ecological value to convey ecological information. We know that interspecies acoustic communication happens between predator and prey. Sound is much more efficient, especially to pick up if you're worried about a predator. plants would have evolved to sense information about insect predators from sound.
