Introduction

For most consultants and executives, the inherent idea is that you want to look at best practices. But if you implement what competitors are doing, assuming it works, you are really becoming like a competitor. There is no competitive advantage here. You don't even try to win in the game. If you take actions that make you just as good as company B, you become a commodity because there is no distinction between what you are offering from someone else.
