I do think there are hints that he does have some itchings in his soul for a deeper engagement with all of it. But we don't hear him ever get into any specifics about policy. He just kind of sits back and lets it all happen in front of him. There was one very fleeting reference in the first episode of this season where he's looking around at his birthday party and he says, I thought there would be a churchman, maybe a cardinal. And there's that desire for proximity to legitimacy, I guess.
